About dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are a non-invasive treatment, which is used to create definition and add volume to the skin; they can also be used to boost the volume of the lips.
The procedure for filler treatment is simple and safe; a fine needle is used to inject the filler into the skin. Before treatment, we discuss the procedure with you and identify the areas you want to address and the problems you want to correct. The needle is then injected into the areas of the skin. Treatment usually takes around 20 minutes and the results are visible within 2 days.
Dermal fillers are not a permanent treatment; the results of treatment tend to last up to 9 months and then you have the choice of arranging further treatment sessions.
Wrinkles are inevitable, but if you’re looking to reduce the visibility of your lines or keep wrinkles at bay for a little longer, we can help. We use wrinkle reduction treatment to smooth the complexion and give your skin a healthy and bright aesthetic.
The effects of wrinkle reduction treatment last around 4 months, but it is very easy to top-up the treatment to prolong the results if you are happy with your new, youthful look near Braunstone
Gum contouring is a procedure, which is used to reduce the amount of gum tissue that is visible when you smile. This treatment is commonly used to treat patients who have a gummy smile.
What is a gummy smile?
A gummy smile is not a medical problem and it does not cause any pain or swelling; however, it can affect people’s confidence because it affects the aesthetic of the smile. If you have a gummy smile, this mean that the gums cover the top or bottom of the teeth, which makes the teeth look smaller and shorter. By removing some of the gum tissue, the teeth look longer and bigger and the balance of the smile is improved.
Gum contouring is a cosmetic procedure because it does not benefit oral health and it enhances the look of the smile, but it also has benefits for confidence and wellbeing.
Gum contouring may sound like a fairly terrifying prospect, but it is actually much simpler than it sounds and the gums are numbed in advance to prevent any pain.
Before treatment your dentist will discuss the procedure with you and decide how much of the gum tissue they are going to trim away. Once the effects of the anaesthetic have come into play, your dentist will start to trim away very tiny pieces of the gum to uncover more of the tooth crown. The shape of the gums is then altered using cutting-edge laser treatment to complete the new look.
After treatment it is normal for the gums to feel slightly sore and inflamed; however, this should subside quickly and we can offer you pain relief to reduce your discomfort. We advise rinsing with salt water for the first couple of days after treatment. For more information about gum contouring contact the team near Stoneygate.
Adult orthodontics has become extremely popular and we are delighted to offer a range of treatments to suit patients of all ages. We are treating more adults than ever before; some have chosen to have treatment after forgoing it in their teenager years and some are experiencing orthodontic issues for the first time as a result of changes in tooth alignment and the shape of the mouth, which may occur during the adult years.
The benefits of orthodontic treatment
Orthodontic treatment has benefits for teenagers and adults; often, it is best to intervene early to prevent problems from getting worse, but sometimes problems do not become apparent until later life. Adult treatment tends to take longer, but there are many discreet treatment options available, which means that wearing braces is not such a daunting or unpleasant prospect.
Orthodontic issues such as problems with the bite, misaligned teeth, crowding, gaps between the teeth and crooked teeth, can impact on your oral health, as well as your ability to carry out normal oral functions; there is also the aesthetic impact to consider, which can have a knock-on effect on self-esteem and confidence.
Leaving orthodontic problems may contribute to pain associated with TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder, poor speech and difficulty chewing food.
Nowadays, there is a huge range of treatments available for orthodontic patients, from lingual braces that are fixed to the back of your teeth, to invisible aligners, which can barely be seen when you smile or speak. If you are interested in braces, contact us today to arrange a consultation and we can discuss the options available to you near Victoria Park.
Have you been told to consider orthodontic treatment? Are you thinking about having treatment to correct your crooked or crowded teeth? Are you searching for a treatment, which delivers results quicker than any other treatment around? If so, the Inman Aligner may be the perfect treatment for you.
What is the Inman Aligner?
The Inman Aligner is an orthodontic treatment, which is designed for patients with minor orthodontic needs. The aligner is made of a metal bar, which runs along the front of your teeth, and a spring, which is located at the back of your front teeth; these parts produce forces, which cause the teeth to be pushed and pulled into position. The Inman Aligner uses the latest technology to move the teeth very quickly with minimum discomfort.
We recommend appointments every 2-3 weeks during the treatment process so that we can monitor your progress and check that everything is on course for your brand new smile!
The Inman Aligner is removable and it is designed specifically for patients with issues affecting the front teeth.
What are the advantages of the Inman Aligner?
The Inman Aligner has many advantages, but perhaps the most appealing aspect if this treatment is the speed at which the aligner works; most patients start to notice changes after just a few weeks and almost all cases are completely finished within just 4 months.
The Inman Aligner is also comfortable and convenient; you can take it out when you eat and when you clean your teeth, which makes oral hygiene and keeping your brace clean easier.
Who is the Inman Aligner designed for?
The Inman Aligner is designed for patients with minor crowding and slightly crooked front teeth; it is not suitable for patients who have more complex needs. This treatment may also be recommended for people who have already had orthodontic treatment, but started to experience relapse, which occurs when the teeth start to move out of their new position. Implant-retained dentures combine the best aspects of dentures and dental implants; they are dentures that are held in place by dental implants.
About dental implants
Dental implants are a treatment for missing teeth; they are designed to fill the gap left by the root section of the missing tooth. Implants are titanium posts, which are screwed into sockets in the jaw bone; the idea is that the implant integrates into the bone so that it can provide optimum support for the new restoration.
Dental implants are suitable for a wide range of patients because once the implant has healed, it can be attached to a single crown, a denture or a dental bridge.
What are the advantages of implant-retained dentures?
Dentures are an effective treatment in their own right, but implant-retained dentures have a host of benefits.
Dentures are usually held in place by the natural suction of the gums, but dental implants provide a much greater level of support and they help to eliminate many of the issues faced by denture-wearers.
With dental implants, there is no risk of the denture coming loose or sliding out of place, so you can eat what you like and you don’t need to worry about your dentures irritating your gums and causing sore spots.
Implant-retained dentures also last longer than conventional dentures and they are easier to maintain.

At Aesthetic Dentistry near Thurmaston your oral health is our priority and we promote preventative dental care to ensure that you enjoy a bright smile and healthy gums.
Good oral hygiene goes a long way to keeping gum disease and decay at bay, but brushing your teeth twice a day is often not enough to prevent you from suffering oral health problems. There are many other factors, including your diet and lifestyle habits, which can impact on your oral health and we actively promote healthy lifestyle choices.
We encourage all our patients to adopt a good daily oral hygiene regime, which should include brushing your teeth twice a day using fluoride toothpaste for at least 2 minutes each time and flossing. In addition, we are happy to offer advice about diet ad nutrition and we can provide information and support to patients looking to quit smoking.
Dental checks and cleaning treatments
We recommend regular check-ups for all our patients; a dental check only lasts a few minutes, but it is really important. During your check-up your dentist will check your teeth, gums and your tongue and search or signs of any problems that may need treating; they will also note down any changes in your oral health or general health. It is important to see your dentist regularly, as oral health problems get worse over the course of time and they can be very serious. Gum disease is easily treated in the early stages, but it causes permanent damage if it is left untreated.
We also recommend dental hygiene sessions; cleaning treatments give your mouth a much more intensive clean that brushing at home and they are particularly beneficial if you are prone to plaque build-up or you have a higher risk of developing gum disease.
We provide treatment for gum disease, but we strongly support the mantle that prevention is better than cure. If you notice symptoms of gum disease, such as swollen or sore gums, tender gums or bleeding from the gums (this is usually evident when you brush your teeth), it is important that you see your dentist as soon as you can.
We are proud to offer a range of high quality restorative treatments, including fillings, inlays and onlays. Restorations help to strengthen and restore the teeth and to prevent damage to the teeth.
White fillings at Aesthetic Smiles
White fillings are a very popular treatment and we are pleased to offer new fillings and replacement fillings for mercury amalgam fillings. White filings are made from composite materials and they match the colour of the natural teeth so that you cannot see the filling when you smile. Composite fillings are preferable to metal amalgam fillings because they are safer and they also produce more natural and discreet aesthetics.
It is very common to need a filling; fillings are used to fill cavities, which are holes in the tooth. Fillings help to prevent the spread of infection through the tooth and increase the strength of the tooth to reduce the risk of damage in the future. The filing procedure is fairly simple and quick; normally, it is complete within an hour and the tooth is numbed to prevent any pain.
Inlays and onlays
Inlays and onlays are restorations, which may be recommended when a tooth needs more intensive treatment than a filling; they are often considered the middle ground between fillings and crowns. Composite fillings can be used to create inlays to fill inner cavities where the dentin has become exposed, and onlays to fill worn cusps of the tooth; this is most common on the molar teeth.
We also offer porcelain crowns, which are placed over the top of the natural tooth to create a stronger, more robust tooth. Crowns are generally recommended when the tooth is decayed or damaged as a result of injury and following root canal treatment; they also often used as part of dental implant treatment near Beaumont Leys

There is a stereotypical belief that dentures look like big, bulky false teeth, but this is simply not the case; our innovative dentures look like natural teeth and they are light and comfortable. Dentures are made for the individual patient to guarantee a perfect fit and we recommend regular checks to prevent soreness or slipping.
Partial and full dentures
We offer partial and full dentures; partial dentures are designed to replace a small number of missing teeth, while full dentures are intended to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. Dentures can be used to replace the top and bottom teeth.

At Aesthetic Smiles we understand that many patients feel nervous when they have to have injections. The Wand is just one of many techniques we use to try and make dental treatment as comfortable as possible for our patients.
What is The Wand?
The Wand is a computer-controlled painless injection system. The instrument looks similar to a pen, so it much less daunting than a needle and it helps to prevent pain by controlling the flow of the fluid through the needle. In most cases, injections are painful because the medication is injected too fast; with The Wand, there is no risk of this as the speed of the flow is controlled by computer software. The amount of medication or anaesthetic that is injected is also controlled by the computer.
The Wand is designed to comfort nervous patients; although there is still a needle, it is hidden and patients are unable to see the injection going into their skin; instead, The Wand looks like a normal pen.
What are the benefits of The Wand?
The Wand helps to prevent painful injections, but it can also be hugely beneficial in reducing anxiety in patients who have a phobia of needles and those who become very nervous when they are about to have an injection. The Wand looks less scary than a needle and the procedure is much more comfortable, as there is no risk of the medication being injected too quickly.
If you are a nervous dental patient or you feel very anxious when you have an injection or see a needle, The Wand could help. At Aesthetic Smiles near Aylestone we also offer other services and techniques to reduce dental anxiety and eliminate pain from dental procedures. We have experiencing in treating nervous patients and we go the extra mile to try and make you feel as relaxed as possible.
